A&O Part 3 Format: Faculty & Staff Information

Thank you for welcoming students to campus.

Advising and orientation is a hybrid experience for first-year students. A&O Part 3 takes place in person and emphasizes Community Connections. 

Summer/Autumn A&O Pt.3 Dates

  • Transfer: Tuesday (9/17)
  • Freshman: Wed (9/18), Thurs (9/19), Fri (9/20)
  • Make-Up: Tues (9/24)

    • Submit feedback on agendas by May 29th. 
  • View the session count estimates and timing on the /presenterlist. Tab C.

Presentation Content & Technical Support 

  • OL Community Connections Presentation and Handout  (populated September 17, 2024)
  • If a student misses A&O Pt. 3, they can attend the makeup session right before school begins.
  • Tech Support 
  • If a student lives in housing, they will be assigned to move in the day before their A&O part 3. 
  • Freshman Academic Advisers, during AO Pt.2, please let the students know you will see them on campus. 

Through participation in Advising & Orientation Part 3, students will be able to:

  1. Identify campus resources (in-person) that will assists them with their transition to the University of Washington;
  2. Describe the importance of meeting with an academic adviser;
  3. Identify ways to enhance their Husky experience through in-person interactions with faculty, staff, and the community;
  4. Describe the value of building community both inside and outside the classroom;
  5. Identify tools to connect self-identity to one's educational experience, and
  6. Understand similarities and differences between high school, community college, and a university, and begin successfully navigating their college experience.
