New Husky Coin

You will receive your New Husky Coin when you attend your Advising & Orientation Part 3 session.

The New Husky Coin symbolizes your journey to the UW and the values we embody as a community, There are four columns in the background that represent our values as a university: Loyalty, Industry, Faith, and Efficiency (LIFE).

As a new Husky, we ask you to select a value that holds true for you and remember, at this moment, we are all connected and stronger together as one. We pass the coin to you (with a virtual or in-person handshake); during your first year, we ask that you pass the coin to someone who has supported you throughout your transition.

Next steps

  1. Pick up your new husky coin when you attend A&O Part 3. Access your A&O registration information here.

  2. Visit the columns. Touch one of the columns that resonates with the value you want to focus on, and set your intention for the year. You only need to touch one:) This is a long-standing new husky tradition.

  3. At the end of your first-year pass the coin to someone who has supported you throughout your transition.

A special thanks to the UW Tacoma, New Student & Family Programs, who initially launched their Orientation Challenge Coin and UW Student Veteran Life for their consultation.
