Orientation

Two-Day: Sample Agenda (Remote)

Day 1

Start and End Time: 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. PT
View reservation confirmation email for your detailed agenda and Zoom links. Both days of your A&O are required. 

  • A&O Connection Group | 9:00 a.m.
    • Meet your Orientation Leader. You will be reviewing expectations for the day and will get to meet other new huskies. 
  • Break | 9:45 a.m.
    • Take a moment to stretch or step away. 
  • Academic Workshop | 10:00 a.m. 
    • Meet with your assigned advising team to build upon pre-orientation modules and understand how to navigate academic interest and course selection in the first quarter. 
  • Academic Interest Session | 10:45 a.m.
    • Connect with departmental advising teams Arts, Humanities, & Social Sciences and Math & Science. Specific breakouts for Computer Science direct admits and Engineering and Business sessions.
  • Virtual Lunch | 12:00 p.m.
    • Enjoy lunch with an Orientation Leader and other new huskies. This will be a chance to ask your OL questions about registration or UW communities.
  • Self-Guided Presentations | 12:45 p.m.
    • You will be reviewing multiple presentations prepared by UW staff and faculty to later discuss with your peers. 
  • A&O Connection Groups | 2:30 p.m.
    • Connect with your A&O connection groups to discuss the self-guided presentations. 
  • Conversation with Faculty | 3:00 p.m.
    • Learn how to work with faculty and other classroom expectations. 
  • A&O Connection Groups | 3:30 p.m.
    • Prepare for course registration and create a plan for campus involvement. 
  • Closing of Day One | 4:00 p.m.
    • You will end the day with your A&O connection groups to wrap-up, get any final questions answered, and learn about next steps. 

Day 2 

Start and End Time: 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. PT
Day two agenda times fluctuate depending on your assigned groups. Each group block will be about two and a half hours of live interaction. All schedules include the following elements with varying times. Please hold time for the entire day. We are unable to make changes to your assigned group without rescheduling your entire A&O. 

  • A&O Connection Groups  
    • Reconnect with your groups. Throughout the day you will participate in activities that build upon your Pre-A&O Modules and the first day of A&O. Topics addressed include time and stress management, Dawg Daze (welcome weeks), academic integrity, and building community. 
  • Advising and Registration Session 
    • Meet with your assigned adviser and register for your first quarter of classes. A majority of the advising and registration sessions will take place in a small group setting. 
  • Student Success Videos
    • Video content will be available for you to view at your own convenience as a resource to help ease your transition to the UW!
