Dear First-year Students,

Welcome to the University of Washington! When you chose to come to the UW, you chose to walk on the path of knowledge and understanding; to build bridges across difference; to actively pursue facts and information. UW students, faculty and staff take the road of service and leadership — together. We are glad you’re bringing your unique insights and contributions to our collective Husky experience.

In your time here I hope that you reach out, connect and discover more about the UW, who you are and what matters most to you. Know that your Husky family is proud of you and is here for you.

How to Use this Guide

Getting started at the UW doesn’t come with an instruction manual, but the Husky Guide comes pretty close. To ensure an easy transition into your first year, follow the task list in this guide.

A&O Modules

Not everyone has access to the same advice, and some advice might be out of date. The A&O modules give you the most up to date information about what you need to know, do and expect for your first year. While most of the information included in the Husky Guide and the A&O modules can be found online, these resources package everything you need in one place, so you don’t miss anything.

NOTE: The A&O modules are divided into two sections, pre-A&O Modules and post-A&O modules, which should be completed before and after your A&O session.

Online Resources

Even before you arrive on campus, gain valuable information about academics at the UW with our online and video resources.
