Orientation

One-Day: Sample Agenda Summer Admit (Remote)

Morning 

Start and End Time: 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

  • A&O Connection Groups | 8:00 a.m.
    • Meet your Orientation Leader. You will be reviewing expectations for the day and will get to meet other new huskies. 
  • Break | 8:45 a.m. 
    • Take a moment to stretch or step away. 
  • Academic Workshop | 9:00 a.m.
    • Meet with an adviser to learn more about UW's degree structure and the satisfactory progress policy.
  • Break | 9:45 a.m.
    • Take a moment to stretch or step away. 
  • Converstation with Faculty | 10:00 a.m.
    • Learn how to work with faculty and other classroom expectations. 
  • Student Veteran Appointments (optional) | 10:30 a.m.
    • If you are a student veteran, you will be meeting the students and employees in Student Veteran Life to learn more about the programs and services available to you during your time at the university. To learn more, view additional resources. 
  • Self-Guided Presentations | 11:00 a.m.
    • You will be reviewing multiple presentations prepared by UW staff and faculty to later discuss with your peers. 
  • Virtual Lunch | 12:00 p.m. 
    • Enjoy lunch with an Orientation Leader and your fellow peers. This will be a chance to ask your OL questions about registration or UW communities. 

Afternoon

Start and End Time: 12:45 p.m.– 5:00 p.m. 
The afternoon agenda times fluctuate depending on your assigned groups. Each group block will be about two hours of live interaction. All schedules include the following elements.

  • Advising Appointment
    • Meet with an adviser to discuss your academic area of interest and potential classes for your first quarter. The appointment may take place in a small group or individually with an adviser. 
  • Registration Lab
    • Visit with UAA Advisers to register for your first quarter of classes. 
  • A&O Connections Groups
    • Conclude your A&O with your connection groups, discuss the self-guided presentations, and learn about next steps. 
  • Student Success Videos
    • Video content will be available for you to view at your own convenience as a resource to help ease your transition to the UW!
