First Year Common Question

First year (transfer and freshman) students begin to shape their Husky experience from the moment they step foot on campus. During Advising & Orientation students intentionally engage in conversations about individual and collective values. Students are invited to dialogue, to be courageous with one another, and to answer the question:

Why a common question

Many of the world's most important problems do not have simple solutions, just as many of the challenges students face in college are not easily resolved. It is important to welcome first year students to the community with the understanding that while challenges exist, there is a supportive community to help reflect, guide, and persevere.

All first year students will engage in dialogue about the common question during their small group meetings during the summer Advising and Orientation sessions.
