Did you transfer to the University of Washington? Want to support other new transfers? 

Transfer Ambassadors (TAs) are current transfer students who help new transfer students in their transition to the UW campus. TAs volunteer throughout the academic year and summer at various events and programs and serve as UW ambassadors around the transfer student experience. 

Application is open year round! 


  • Description

    This volunteer position is open year-round to current transfer students. Volunteers can expect at least 2-3 hour volunteer commitment per quarter. 

    • Develop your leadership skills (Looks great on a resume!)
    • Help new students transition to the University
    • Meet new friends 
    • Share your love of UW with new students
    • Give back to the UW community
  • Commitments
    • Be accessible and responsive to email communications from First Year Programs
    • Be willing to volunteer for Advising and Orientation (A&O) Transfer Student Panel if available
      • Panels are held in December and throughout the summer
      • Lunch is provided
      • T-shirt is provided
    • Be ready to help out at various events throughout the school year
    • Be willing to participate in the quarterly Transfer Ambassador Meeting if available

  • Requirements
    • Dedication & Enthusiasm: You must love being a UW student and want to give back to help build a great community on campus. A welcoming smile and willingness to answer questions is one of the primary job requirements.

    • Reliability & Good Character: Throughout the school year and summer, you may be asked to support an event with limited supervision. As a result, you need to show up to events on time and be willing to step up to the challenges of the event. Be aware that students, faculty and staff will recognize you as a Transfer Ambassador, and that you will be serving as a professional representative of UW.
