Student Assistant

The Student Assistant (SA) position interacts daily with newly admitted students, their parents, University administrators, faculty, and staff. 

The ideal candidate would have a desire to learn about office and administrative functions, be detail oriented, and be committed to working on a team with a unified vision.

  • Responsibilities
    • Staff the front desk during business hours (8:30am-4:30pm)
    • Provide a friendly and professional experience to any customer as they interact with our office
    • Respond to inquiries about the UW from prospective and incoming students and their families by phone, email, and in-person
    • Establish an understanding of and is able to assist customers with issues relating to FYP programs, services, policies, and procedures
    • Become familiar with program registration processes and answer questions as needed
    • Ensure that front desk area is kept tidy by vacuuming, sanitizing, and organizing.
  • Qualifications
    • Ability to lift 20lbs
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Highly organized and detail oriented
    • Knowledge of, or an aptitude and willingness to learn about, a wide variety of UW student resources and services
    • Experience with administrative support tasks preferred

    • Compensation is $16 per hour
  • Requirements
    • During the summer, the ability to work a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 19.5 hours per week, if enrolled in classes. If not enrolled in classes, the maximum can be 40 hours per week. 
    • During the academic year, the ability to work a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 19.5 hours per week. Average is 4-8 hrs/wk.
    • Ability to work for the entire quarter in which hired
    • Have a strong proficiency of the English language
    • Available for training on the first day of the quarter for which you are hired
